Toy Story Fangirl

The Nuremberg Toy Fair, or  Spielwarenmesse,  is going on right now in Germany, and we’ve gotten another preview of some new toys coming out for Toy Story 4!

The website TNP shared images of these new toys , including Mission Moves Buzz from Mattel.  This animated toy features lights, sound, and action moves.  Here’s the site’s description:

Kids will love his animated effects as he walks forward and back and speaks classic lines like ‘Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!’  Press the big red button on his left side to deploy his wings and hear him say a series of phrases as he moves around, and swivels his hips in his signature style.  He even includes an Easter egg surprise to discover and make Buzz do the moon walk!

There was a walking and dancing Buzz that came out after Toy Story 3 (which I own), so I imagine this will be comparable to that version.

New characters were revealed, too!  Mattel also previewed this Ducky and Bunny Interactive 2-Pack.  According to the description, they’re movie-scale, offer 20+ phrases each, and interact when they’re close to each other.

Thinkway got their share of the announcements, with a plush Ducky and Bunny:

Officially titled Bunny and Ducky Huggable Plush,  Bunny stands 16″ tall, with Ducky at a height of 9″.  These two apparently don’t talk or interact, but appear to be the cuddly replicas of the characters as seen in the movie – and will be sold separately, not as a set.

Here’s what Disney had to say at the event, as represented by Tasia Filippatos, Senior Vice President, Disney Consumer Products Commercialisation, Europe, Middle East, and Asia (EMEA):

“Everyone at our company knows how special Toy Story is, and the relationship fans have with these beloved characters.  This translates into movies, toys and merchandise of the highest levels of innovation and creativity.  The support across the business, with best-in-class retail activations and marketing campaigns, will reinforce the strength of this much-loved franchise.  We are very proud of this new collection of products and we’re sure that they will delight fans of all ages.”

The article states that these toys will release on April 22 in the markets represented by this toy fair, so I’d expect to see them close to that date in America as well.

We’ve also gotten some additional images of the toys that were revealed at the London Toy Fair a couple weeks ago.  In an article shared by The Walt Disney Company, EMEA – the same branch of the company as at the Nuremberg Toy Fair – there was a photo of Thinkway’s 16″ Sheriff Woody with Interactive Drop-Down Action, both in and out of his box.

We also now have an image for the interactive, dancing Forky toy, also by Thinkway.  I’ve heard many (funny) remarks online that these companies are going to have to include some amazing features to make someone want to buy a toy spork, and this does look like it’ll be pretty entertaining.

It appears that the Toy Story 4 merchandise collections are gradually being rolled out at this winter’s toy-industry trade shows, so with the New York Toy Fair in just a couple weeks, I think it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing plenty more soon.  Stay tuned!
