New ‘Toy Story 4’ Merchandise Features Bo and a New Character

Thanks to the Italian website Dulcop, some new-render images of Bo Peep have surfaced, giving us a little more insight into the details of her updated style – as well as a little peek at a mystery character we’ve gotten a faint glimpse at before.

The images, which are part of a listing for children’s soap-bubble displays that are being sold by the company, offer a few different clues.  They’re not the highest-resolution, but they’re still useful.

One thing that’s clarified is Bo’s crook.  What appears to be twine is wrapped around its handle – which, to me, looks more like she’s added a grip than repaired it.  It could be covering a spot of wear and tear, but even if it is, it seems to be serving a dual purpose.

This is also the pose we saw in the ToyBox figure silhouette – minus the cape or poncho, which we have yet to find out about officially.  But what’s most interesting isn’t the product itself, but a tiny peek at the mysterious character on Bo’s shoulder that was first seen in the Russian calendar.  Here’s that original glimpse we got:

And here’s the new image, on the left:

You can see the same dark hair and orange face as on the calendar, and what could be a dress it’s wearing – but who is this?  Although I’m not certain, I have a hunch this might be Lulu, who was shown in the Animation presentation at D23.  Bo seems fond of the character; she’s looking back over her shoulder at it and smiling.  Is this a “child” that she’s adopted?  Or just a smaller toy she’s taken under her wing?

Other bottle art shows Woody and Forky in a friendly pose, and a classic depiction of Woody and Buzz running.  There may be a fourth bottle design, but since it’s hidden in the back, we don’t know what it is.  It could be Ducky and Bunny, or maybe some of the classic characters.

I love seeing these new art assets come out – as my animation-savvy friend has told me they’re called.  There were many made for Toy Story 3, that showed up on a wide range of merchandise – and now, for Toy Story 4, we’ve already seen some others debut with the Toy Story Drop! game.  I can’t wait to see all the poses and groupings we get with the whole cast, as more is revealed for the film.

Bo’s little friend kinda looks like a bobblehead. Given the road trip theme, I’m guessing they made the new character Lulu a hula girl bobblehead on a dashboard, rather than a paper doll. I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out!

Hmm, size wise though, to fit on Bo’s shoulder, it would have to be more like the size of a Polly Pocket or Squinkie-type toy – a bobblehead would be rather large and heavy. I do think it potentially could be Lulu, since we know that name and haven’t seen her officially yet. Hopefully we’ll find out soon!

I meant a mini-bobblehead, like the Disney ones I found in the cereal box when I was a little kid.

Oh, ok, I never knew they came small enough to perch on Bo’s shoulder. It’d have to be less than an inch tall. We’ll have to see!

There used to be this Disney Parks toyline called Tagalongs, which were little character figures that could perch on your shoulder via a super-strong magnet, called a “magical power disk”, which went on the inside of your shirt and stuck to the figure’s magnetic base. Maybe this new little character is a similar toy.

I have the Buzz one of those. It’s a little big for Bo, but I suppose something similar is possible.
