Last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, actor Tony Hale was a guest and spoke briefly about voicing Forky in Toy Story 4.
Fallon brought up the character, showing the film’s teaser poster featuring Forky.
Excuse me, you’re the voice of Forky! I mean, come on. Let’s not fool around! Let’s not joke around anymore.
Thank you.
Arrested Development is one thing, Veep is one thing, but Toy Story!?!
Isn’t that cool? So, it’s so cool. I can’t say a lot about it. But it is such a great movie. And I play a spork who’s in the middle of an existential crisis.
I gotta show you this. My brother sent me this. And somebody on Twitter – I guess when they announced that I was doing the voice of the spork – somebody wrote on Twitter, “The spork is that bald guy Tony-something, that’s always panicking in movies.” Not true, I’m panicking in television … I kind of panic all the time.
Are you typecast as a panicky actor?
I play emasculated, panicked men very well.
You can watch the interview here, starting at the 3:45 mark:
Although nothing new was revealed – we already know that Forky is a spork in the midst of an existential crisis – it’s always fun to hear from the voice actors themselves, and to hear their enthusiasm for the project and their praise for the film.
Meanwhile, I’m still hoping for something new from Pixar! It has to be any day now, right?
