Keanu Reeves Speaks About His ‘Toy Story 4’ Role

The entertainment website Collider has gotten confirmation from Keanu Reeves that he is in fact voicing a new character in Toy Story 4, and has been in the studio recording.

The role was revealed by Tim Allen a few weeks ago; and although I didn’t doubt the truth of his statements, it’s nice to hear it from Reeves himself.  The article provided a video of an interview with the actor.

I definitely have to ask – you are part of Toy Story 4.  How did you land this gig?

I have no idea, but I got a call – which was really cool – out the blue from the lovely people at Pixar and the creators of this number, this edition, or continuation of the story. They pitched the character to me, and then we spoke, and they allowed me to kind of riff on it.  And I’ve done four recording sessions with them so far. It’s been a lot of fun.

We still don’t know who Reeves will portray, but Allen described this new character as having a Buzz Lightyear “edge” to him, and standing only maybe two inches tall.  I’m really curious to see how someone who’s not much bigger than one of the green army men will impact the story.  Whatever the role is, it seems as if Pixar created it with Reeves in mind.

Still hoping for an update from Pixar any day now!  If they’re following the same promo schedule as Incredibles 2, something new could be shared soon.  Stay tuned!
