I’ve got a new addition to Tim Allen’s series of Last Man Standing promotional interviews, and just like the others, he spent a good bit of time discussing Toy Story 4. Today’s appearance was on CBS’s The Talk, and although his comments continue to be rather vague (as is to be expected), with each one he shares something a little bit different.
You also are working on ‘Toy Story 4’. Have you been back in the booth as Buzz Lightyear yet?
Yes. I can’t believe – I gotta resist getting emotional, because I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story. If you’re at all a superhero fan, ‘Infinity Wars’ – I’m a big superhero fan – that didn’t seem like was gonna work, and it was a lot of vignettes that all made sense. This ‘Toy Story 4’ – and we’ve only been through it once, so there with be several more incantations – but it is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big the idea of what they’ve come up with. I’m startled that – 3 was, I thought, amazing – this, I couldn’t even get through the last scene, okay. I’d love to be a Washington leaker, I just can’t do it. I can’t give any more away. They’ve got great characters. But a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.
Here’s the Toy Story 4 segment of the program:
You’re killin’ us, Tim! It’s going to be a long nine months waiting to find out what these scenes are at the end, that are so hard for him to get through. But would it really be a Pixar movie without something that makes it especially heart-wrenching? We don’t necessarily have to jump to the conclusion that he’s referring to the film being sad – when you think of Coco, for example, the ending makes me cry more for being touching and heartfelt than really sad. And even though he doesn’t give any clues as to who these emotional scenes specifically involve, they could have as much to do with a new character’s story as with existing ones.
We’ve been very spoiled by all these interviews lately! After such a long lull, it’s certainly been nice to have several days’ worth of news in the past week. Allen is making another appearance on the talk show Steve tomorrow, and if he offers any further Toy Story 4 remarks there, I’ll be sure to report.

Toward the end? Really hard to get through? Very emotional? This is Toy Story we’re talking about, and Pixar! So you know what that means. We already know, it’s gonna be good!

I really love how excited and positive Tim Allen is about the movie. Even when he’s talking about the emotional parts, it’s with a smile. I’m also very curious about the “vignettes” he keeps referring to. The suspense is torture, but I’m sure it’ll be fantastic!
