Toy Story 4: Is This Our First Glimpse?

Did Pixar give us Toy Story fans a belated Christmas present?  Is this the very first concept art to be released for Toy Story 4?  The image – which is consistent with the style of a storyboard sketch – was tweeted by Pixar Story Supervisor Matthew Luhn on Sunday:

Toy Story News Roundup: Interviews, Toy Story at 20

TS News Roundup

It’s been over two weeks since I’ve published anything on this blog, and there’s a good reason for that – I’ve been at Disney World!  My family and I are annual passholders, so we head to the parks as often as we can – this time it was to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and to celebrate Toy Story‘s 20th anniversary with the toys themselves.  We had some amazing luck while we were there that led to an unforgettable Pixar experience, which I’ll be writing about soon in a future post.  But for now, I thought I’d recap the little snippets of Toy Story related news that came out while I was away.

Is There a Hint in the ‘Toy Story That Time Forgot’ Commentary?

image2

The Blu-ray and DVD releases of Toy Story That Time Forgot hit store shelves yesterday, and as promised, I bought my own copy and watched it last night, including all the bonus features.  The director’s commentary is always one of my favorites, because I love to learn about the thought processes that went into the creation of the story and its animation.  And this time, I might have caught something significant at the very end of the commentary for Toy Story That Time Forgot.

Sneak Peek! ‘Toy Story That Time Forgot’ Blu-Ray Bonus Features

On Tuesday, November 3, Toy Story That Time Forgot will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD, and I can’t wait!  Of course I’ll be running out as early as I can to buy it, just like I did with Toy Story of TERROR! last year.  A new Pixar Blu-ray is definitely something to look forward to, because they never fail to give us a wealth of behind-the-scenes treasures.

Toy Story Throwback: Toy Story of TERROR!

With this week being Halloween, I thought I’d look back at all of two years ago, when
Toy Story of TERROR! made its debut on national TV.  Even though I own the special on Blu-ray – which I bought, of course, the morning it came out, and rushed home to devour all the bonus features – every time it’s shown on television, I can’t help but watch.  It takes me back to October 2013 and the anticipation surrounding its first broadcast.

Heart and Humor: John Lasseter at the Lyon Film Festival

Lyon John Lassteter

This week, John Lasseter has been in Lyon, France for the Lumière Film Festival, which celebrated Pixar’s films as a part of its 2015 program.  Lasseter was honored at the event with a plaque on their Wall of Filmmakers; he introduced a 20th anniversary screening of Toy Story on October 12th; and he led a masterclass and also introduced a showing of Cars on October 13th.  As always, when I hear that someone from Pixar – especially John Lasseter – is going to be making public appearances, I search high and low for coverage and recaps; even more so now, since I’m always looking for any new information about Toy Story 4.  The international events are the trickiest, and although I haven’t had a lot of success finding videos of the full presentations on You Tube (more may pop up in time), I did discover this fantastic interview…

Toy Story 4: Did We Miss a Clue in Pete Docter’s Interview?

Pete Docter Interview

Earlier this week, an ET interview with Pete Docter began circulating, in which he debunked several Toy Story-related fan theories and dropped some vague hints about Toy Story 4.  When I first found the video, those were the details I paid the closest attention to.  Now, in light of the movie’s delayed release, a statement made by the interviewer stands out as a possible missed clue to changes in production.
