While Pixar fans have been hoping to get a Toy Story 4 teaser trailer attached to Incredibles 2 (alas, no, but it’s a fantastic movie! go see it!), yesterday attendees of the CineEurope trade show in Barcelona, Spain were treated to previews of several upcoming Disney movies – including Toy Story 4.
The Hollywood Reporter was first to share the news stateside, but they provided only the briefest recap:
Among the major titles previewed at the Barcelona trade show was the long-awaited Toy Story 4, which will see the return of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the toys in a new Pixar adventure. Attendees were treated to exclusive early footage from the film, which is being directed by Josh Cooley and is set to bow in June 2019.
Apparently there were rules not to share any specific details or reviews on social media, along with the usual restrictions on photos and videos – and this is proving to be true, because I haven’t had any luck locating even a brief synopsis of the clip online. However, after some searching on Twitter, I was able to find a couple small pieces of info from user Nikita Byrkin. According to this reporter, who was at the presentation, new heroes were introduced – along with Lulu (the character previewed at last year’s D23 Expo), who we now know is a paper doll.
Alex Ritman, who published the Hollywood Reporter article, commented on his personal Twitter that the Toy Story 4 preview was “rather nice”:
And Lori Alan, the voice of Bonnie’s Mom, tweeted a response to confirm her role in the sequel:
I don’t think it’s likely that we’re going to find much else regarding this event, unless someone is willing to bend the rules and describe what they saw in a little more detail. Still, it’s good to know that there is some film footage completed – even in rough form, which is the way we saw a clip from Incredibles 2 at the 2017 D23 Expo. I do like that the Hollywood Reporter includes “the rest of the toys” in their description, which makes me hopeful that a large portion of the cast will get to go along on this latest adventure to find Bo Peep.
