I know I usually report on Toy Story Land in Walt Disney World, but the news coming out of Disneyland is too good not to share! Over this past weekend, there was a media preview event at Walt Disney Imagineering, and new concept art was revealed for Pixar Pier – which opens this summer at Disney California Adventure – featuring an overwhelming wealth of Toy Story goodness!
Jessie’s Critter Carousel
This revamping of King Triton’s Carousel makes me the happiest of all the new additions. Everyone knows Jessie’s my favorite – and she gets her OWN ride! The figure is the same as on the Slinky Dog Dash coaster in Toy Story Land, but here we’ll get to see it up close. And I love the cowprint and horseshoe theming of it all. Inside the Magic shared a video with a more detailed look at the ride:
Here’s a still of Jessie’s critters on the carousel…
I’m beyond thrilled to see Jessie get some recognition and be featured like this, on her own! Jessie’s Critter Carousel won’t open with the rest of Pixar Pier, however; it’ll be added in 2019. (Now, if WDW would just take some cues from Disneyland, and give Jessie her meet and greet back…)
Señor Buzz Churros
A close second favorite for me. I adore Spanish Buzz, and this is super cute.
Disneyland wins with this reference to the Toy Story Toon, Small Fry. I have a feeling very few guests at WDW would get this reference, but it’s just perfect at DCA. Here’s hoping the menu options have creative names like they did in the short.
Pixar Fest Food
Although Pixar Pier doesn’t open until June 23, Pixar Fest will take over the Disneyland Resort as of April 13! The festival’s food offerings have been released as well, and many of them are Toy Story themed:
If you’d like to see the full lineup, including all the Pixar-movie-inspired food, check out the post on the OC Register, where all these photos are from.
There will also be a float served in Woody’s boot, and another variety of Toy Story themed pizza, which can be seen in this video from Theme Park Insider (Toy Story segment starts around 4:10):
I don’t know, it looks like Toy Story Land has a LOT to live up to, compared to Pixar Pier and Pixar Fest! I would hope that at least maybe some of the food items might show up in Florida, like the boot mug and Alien macarons. Which of these new additions and/or treats are you most excited about?
