Sure, we’ve had a hint from Tim Allen that Woody would be in Toy Story 5, but I guess now we have even more proof!
In a recent interview with Variety, Pixar CCO Pete Docter mentioned the studio’s upcoming sequels, including Toy Story 5 (Inside Out 2 is the other that has been announced). Here’s what he had to say:
We have another ‘Toy Story,’ so Woody and Buzz are back.
Of course I didn’t doubt Allen’s remarks, since he and Tom Hanks are buddies – he would know if both had been called back for another movie – but it’s nice to hear it from Pixar, too. If Woody is returning, then it seems to me that the possibilities for the story are wide open! I’m not discussing any of my own thoughts about that, though, as I explained in my previous post.

I’ve got one other thing to share today, and that’s a fantastic interview with John Morris, the voice of Andy, on my friend’s podcast. Although he doesn’t confirm involvement in Toy Story 5, he doesn’t deny it either, which makes me curious. Give it a listen and see what you think for yourself!
With Elemental out this weekend, and a big update on Elio (Pixar’s March 2024 film) shared this past week, hopefully we’re not too far off from at least a release date for Toy Story 5!
