Tim Allen’s run of interviews for Last Man Standing continues to give us clues about Toy Story 4. Today’s find comes from The Life of Dad Show, and offers some new little tidbits of information we didn’t have before!
A lot of people, myself included, are very excited for ‘Toy Story 4’. Talk to me about your impressions of the film; and also, two, what is Buzz Lightyear’s best character trait?
Buzz – I’ll go backwards. His best character trait – he’s a little distracted, so he comes off as dim – and I can’t give you the line, but there’s a new character in ‘Toy Story 4’ that everybody cares about, and Buzz just offside – I’m not giving the line – but he’ll just say, like very flat, “I think he’s in great danger.” But everybody’s like, “Where is he? Where is he?” “I think he’s in great danger.” I like the fact that Buzz says things calmly, and it kind of settles it down – everybody, the house is on fire, but Buzz would go, “I think the house is on fire.” I love the fact that he’s calm about stuff.
‘Toy Story 4’, continuing on the path they’re on – and they’re early in my end of it, but I’ve read the whole thing, and got all the way to the end; and it’s a magical experience when they can get past ‘Toy Story 3’, which was a wonderful, wonderful movie on every level. This is expanded, clever, funny – it’s ‘Avengers 4’, if you like big movies. ‘Avengers 4’, I love – or 3, whatever the last one was. ‘Infinity War’ had so many vignettes, but each vignette was a great little movie in itself, and they all fit together… ‘Toy Story 4’ is very much like that. It’s wonderful, and it ties it all together. I can’t give away any more, that’s it. It’s just wonderful.
So, from this, we can glean that there’s a new, presumably male, character that the cast is all very fond of, and that the film is made up of a bunch of smaller stories or vignettes woven together. I’ll admit, I panicked a little when he compared it to Infinity War, until he clarified the exact way in which it was similar – the film’s structure, not the intense drama. I must say, I really like the idea of multiple storylines – it really gives the plot a lot of potential, and I’m excited to see what they do with it.
Allen’s series premieres on Fox this Friday, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for any other interviews this week. Stay tuned!

Toy Story Fangirl 
Uh oh…….I’m kind of worried about this new male character……..will Woody be jealous? Will this possibly be a character that might steal bo from Woody? I’m kind of nervous…..

Why is it you always comment with worries about Toy Story 4? Can’t you be excited? I don’t understand how you can find something negative about every new bit of info I share. If the other toys are all fond of this character, I hardly think he’s a threat.

I haven’t seen the script. I’m going by what Tim Allen said. He mentioned no character by name except for Buzz. But I really don’t see the point in debating this, because you always seem to be determined to turn everything into a cause for despair.

Well, he’s likening it to Avengers 4, and you know favorite characters are going to die in that movie. Wonder if that was a freudian slip on his part. Or maybe, just maybe, the drama could be saved for the movie and we can give the pearl-clutching a rest for the next 9 months? I mean, it’s a way to go.
