Toy Story Fangirl

This is the post I’ve been hoping to make for a year and a half now.  As my followers know, I’ve been fighting hard for Jessie’s return since her Walt Disney World meet and greet was cut from Frontierland back in October 2016.  Today, the Disney Parks Blog shared the exciting news that Jessie will be a part of the daily character experiences in Toy Story Land!

The article, which was just shared this afternoon, gives this information about the characters in the new land, which opens June 30 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

Today, we’re excited to let you know that inside this new land, you’ll have the chance to encounter some of your favorite characters from the Disney•Pixar “Toy Story” films, including Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl.

Woody, Buzz and Jessie will be greeting guests throughout Toy Story Land on a daily basis. And each character (along with the rest of the gang) will be joining in on the fun in a land where guests “shrink” to the size of a toy.

While the announcement doesn’t specify if each character will have a dedicated location of their own, if they’ll appear together, or if they’ll wander randomly throughout the land, it’s still a huge step.  Until just recently, I was hearing from inside sources that Jessie’s presence wasn’t likely.  I am so happy that Walt Disney World did the right thing in listening to guests’ pleas and including a character whose strength and spunk offers such a good example for girls, and serves as an important contrast to all the princesses elsewhere in the parks.

To anyone who acted on my previous posts about Jessie’s absence, by signing or sharing my petition or writing Walt Disney World yourself, thank you so much!  All of us who spoke out contributed in getting her back in the parks, in Toy Story Land where she belongs.
