Did Pixar give us Toy Story fans a belated Christmas present? Is this the very first concept art to be released for Toy Story 4? The image – which is consistent with the style of a storyboard sketch – was tweeted by Pixar Story Supervisor Matthew Luhn on Sunday:
I’ll admit – between getting caught up in the holiday rush, and traveling to visit family and friends – my radar has been down lately as far as Toy Story 4 news goes, so this was a sweet surprise! While there’s nothing to confirm that the picture is definitely from the upcoming sequel, the subject is a good fit with what we already know about the plot. Also, I own all the “art of” and “making of” books for the series, and have seen a lot of concept art over the years, yet I have never noticed this drawing before. If it is in fact from Toy Story 4, as a Jessie fan, and someone who has been concerned about her presence in the new film, it’s nice to see her front and center, presumably comforting Woody in his anguish over Bo Peep. Of course, the fun in finding something new – another piece to the ever-cryptic puzzle – is the speculation that ensues. Is this a scene set in the present, before Woody decides to search for his lost love? Or is it a flashback from the time Bo left, considering only Andy’s toys are shown in the background? And what are those squiggles on the floor? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
Even though I’ve been busy, I did manage to unearth a couple other small references to Toy Story 4 in the past few weeks. One was an article published by Business Insider, where Pete Docter briefly mentions the movie:
“It feels very different,” said Docter, who also told us Lasseter is directing the next entry. “There are a lot of the same characters from the first three, but to me it feels like a new direction. It’s pretty neat.”
There’s that “different” word again! Another was an Empire interview with Tom Hanks, where he talks about the recording process and romantic storyline:

Oh no, Toy Story movies go on and on and on. You go in about every four months and do a little bit more recording and that’s now not coming out until 2018. So I’ll be working on that for the next two years.
Wow, okay. Is it a rom-com?
Toy Story? I guess… It’s a romantic adventure, man. There are some relationship dynamics that go down between Woody and Bo Peep. No lie. Woody and Bo Peep, look for it now!
Hopefully this is just the beginning of many more sneak peeks to come in the new year!

I can’t wait for Toy Story 4 either…..I’m especially happy that we will see Bo peep again!! As much as I loved Toy Story 3, I really missed her in that one, and was a little disappointed that she was not in it!! So now I am excited that she will be back! I just hope that Bo comes back with Woody when they find her, and I also hope that woody won’t have a rival for Bo’s affections! Have a great day!

It’ll be great to see Bo Peep again! 🙂 It was sad when she was left out of Toy Story 3, although I understand why Pixar made that decision. At least now we get to see a whole story centered around bringing her back! I’m sure there will be plenty of twists and turns and obstacles for the toys to face, but I’ll be very surprised if, in the end, she doesn’t wind up with Woody and the others, where she belongs.

Yeah, if she doesn’t go back with Woody and the others it would really ruin the movie for me! And I DO hope that Woody won’t have a rival for Bo! And yes, I would love to see Buzz and Jessie be a couple as well…considering they almost are!!! Well, you can bet that I will be getting the junior novel of the movie when It comes out! Love ya! Technically, Buzz and Jessie are a couple already, it’s just that since they officially got together at the end of Toy Story 3, and everything we’ve gotten since then has been shorter on time, we really haven’t had the opportunity to see them share a lot of screen time together, as they are now. 🙂 But just watch Toy Story of Terror, you’ll see how things have changed between them! ❤ And that is exactly what I did with Toy Story 3 – I stood in the store reading the junior novelization so I knew what was going to happen, and then I was able to relax in the theater and not freak out when they were at the dump. I don’t mind a few spoilers, once in a while! 😉

I am soooo worried that when they find Bo she won’t go back with woody! I’m also worried that Woody might have a rival for Bo’s love! (there has to be a villain of some kind after all) And that this movie might end on a cliff hanger! I am excited for this movie but I am also a little concerned, you know what I mean?

I don’t doubt that there will be drama, and it might look like she won’t go back with Woody and the gang – Pixar likes to throw those twists in! – but I’ll be very surprised if the movie doesn’t end happily with Woody and Bo reunited. I don’t expect a cliffhanger either, because that would mean they’d have to make a 5th movie, and they wouldn’t leave loose ends like that. So don’t worry about that one! 🙂 I have my concerns too, though, so I understand. I worry about Jessie’s role, and hope she doesn’t get left out like she did in Toy Story That Time Forgot.
I need more screen time with her, and with her and Buzz. ❤️

Hello, Heidi, my dear, how are you? Hope you had a happy 4th! I am soooooo excited for this movie but if bo does not go back with woody, I just don’t know what I’ll do!! And I just know for sure there will be a Villain of some kind, just as there was in the first movie with Sid, the second movie with Al Mc Wiggin (gosh did I spell that right?? Ha ha!) and the third with Lotso. So, who do you think would be the villain in THIS movie??? Could it be some good looking guy doll that bo had met and is a rival for woody’s love? (but might turn out to be a real jerk, of course….)..Or do you think Lotso will be back, or even Al or even Stinky Pete?? Or even a NEW villain we’ve never seen before? What do you think? I am sure Jess will be in the movie at least, but I have no idea what her role would be. But Buzz and Jessie BETTER share a kiss!!!! And Woody and Bo BETTER share a kiss too!! Or I’ll be really angry!!!

I’m good, and hope you are too, and also had a happy 4th! 🙂 Hmm, as far as a villain, I think there are several possibilities. I don’t think a previous one would return, unless it was as an Easter egg or cameo, like Sid in Toy Story 3. I think there could be either a new toy villain, in the form of a rival or just someone interfering; a human villain, who (maybe not intentionally) hinders their mission; or perhaps there won’t be a villain at all. It’s possible the conflict could come from Bo’s internal struggle to decide between staying with her new “kid” and going home to rejoin her toy family. Chances are we won’t find out until we see the movie, though, because the villain is always the most secretive aspect of the story! And the kisses… well, Buzz and Jessie better kiss, or there will be a fangirl riot! And I think the same can be said of Woody and Bo. None of this hidden-behind-the-hat stuff either, for either couple! We’ve been waiting a long time for this. 😉

YES YES BOTH Buzz and Woody need to share a kiss with their girls or I will be upset!(Perhaps, when Buzz and Woody get back to Bonnie’s from bringing bo back…….I HOPE SHE COMES BACK WITH THEM!!! Maybe Jess will say something to bo like Oh I’ve missed you so much!!!! I have no doubt they were friends in the gap between toy story 2 and toy story 3 And there is no doubt in my mind at all that there WILL be a villain of some kind, whether it will be a human, toy, or whatever. Because there was a villain in the other movies. And guess what? I read an online article on comingsoon.net about Toy Story 4 about Patricia Arquette voicing a new toy in the movie! How about that?? And maybe…just maybe…..THIS toy might be the villain! Hey, the other villains were all guys so why not a female villain? And THIS toy just MIGHT be bo’s rival or something for woody’s love!! EEK!! I hope not!! But anyway, it IS exciting that there is a new toy in the new movie! Don’t you think? Have a nice day!

Well, I sincerely hope that Jessie gets to go along on the mission to bring back Bo, but based on the info we have now, only time will tell.
But I do firmly believe that Jessie and Bo were close friends, and I want a friendship reunion between them as much as I want sweet moments shared between the couples. 🙂 And yes, the news about Patricia Arquette came out back in November, when she was reported to be in talks to voice a “hippie mom” in the film. It’s possible she will be the villain – maybe not intentionally so, but maybe she is the one who purchased Bo (or received her as a gift from the Davises) and who stands in the way of Bo returning home with her toy family. We’ll see! 😀

Well, according to what I saw on comingsoon.net Arquette will voice a TOY not a human. I also understand that there will hardly be any interaction between the toys and the humans in this movie. GAAHH I’m confused!! Now I don’t know if Arquette will be playing a HUMAN or TOY!!!! I hate this uncertainty! **SIGH** Oh well. I can’t wait for the movie and can’t wait for the novel of it to come out! PLEASE let me know if you link me to a site that has all the voice actors of the movie, if you can. I also understand tha Trixie is confirmed to be back….yay!!

If you go through my past blog posts, you’ll find the information about Patricia Arquette (with the link to the original article that reported she would be voicing a human character) as well as everything we officially know about the movie so far. I looked up the comingsoon.net article, and it was merely re-phrasing the original one on thewrap.com, who was the first site to publish that information. You have to be careful – many times websites twist things around without any basis in fact, and what gets passed along from the original report ends up totally skewed and unfounded (often for clickbait). Stay tuned to my blog for updates – I only share news from trusted sources.
